Microsoft Fabric: Create a Gateway Connection to the Oracle Fusion Data Source

Before you start

BI Connector is installed on the Gateway server and your license is activated. If not start with installation of Server Edition.
You have a BI Connector Data Source set up. If not, select your choice here and setup your Data Source first.
The On-premises Data Gateway is installed and running on the same server as BI Connector.
You have your Microsoft Fabric credentials.

Important — Using a Gateway Cluster with multiple nodes? Fabric can route a refresh request to any node at the time of refresh. Make sure the BI Connector Data Source (and Table, if applicable) is configured identically across all nodes in the cluster.

Steps

Step 1 — Open Manage Connections and Gateways

Step 2 — Start a new connection

Click + New at the top left. Ensure On-premises is selected among the options at the top. Select your Gateway Cluster from the drop-down, then enter a Connection name.

Tip — After entering the Connection name, if no other field appears, click outside the Connection name box for the next fields to appear.

Step 3 — Set the Connection type

In the Connection type field, select ODBC from the drop-down.

Step 4 — Enter the Connection string

In the Connection string box, enter your BI Connector Data Source name prefixed with dsn=. For example, if your Data Source name is Oracle Fusion PROD, enter:

dsn=Oracle Fusion PROD

Important — The Data Source name is case-sensitive. Make sure it matches exactly as it appears in BI Connector.

Tip — Quick way to copy the Data Source name: In the BI Connector application on the Gateway server, click the copy icon next to the Data Source name to copy it without typos.

Step 5 — Set up authentication

Select Basic as the Authentication method from the drop-down. Enter your Username and Password.

Tip — Using JWT authentication? Select Basic as the Authentication method and use your Client secret as the password.

Step 6 — Create the connection

Click Create. Scroll to the top of the page to verify the connection was created successfully. If all details are correct, the connection will appear as saved.
