How to Install BI Connector for Tableau Server Edition and Activate the License

Prerequisites


Before installing BI Connector, ensure the following:

  • Your PC runs Windows 10 or later.

  • You have administrative privileges to install software.

Step 1: Install BI Connector Desktop Edition

  1. Download the BI Connector from here if you have a BI Connector license key.
    If you don’t have a BI Connector license key, please request your free trial 
    here.

  2. Locate the downloaded installer file (e.g., BIConnectorDesktopSetup.exe), which should usually be in your Downloads folder.

 

  1. Right-click on the file and select Run as Administrator

  1. Follow the steps in the installation wizard:

    • Step 1: Accept the license agreement and click Next.

    • Step 2: Select the checkbox Create a desktop shortcut if you prefer it, and click Next.

    • Step 3: Click on Install. 

  1. Wait for the installation to complete, then click Finish.

Step 2: Launch BI Connector

  1. Go to the Start Menu or use the desktop shortcut to launch the BI Connector application.

Step 3: Activate Your License

  1. Upon launching BI Connector for the first time, you will see a Sign Up page, type in your email address and Click on Create Account.

  1. You will see the Account and License details window.

  2. Follow these steps:

    • Step 1: Fill in your User Information before proceeding to License Activation. 

  • Step 2: Enter your license key in the provided field. The license key is usually sent to you via email after purchase.

  • Step 3: Click Activate.

  1. Wait for the activation process to complete. A success message will confirm that your license is now active.

  2. If activation fails, verify the following:

    • Your PC is connected to the internet. If your PC has restricted Internet access, please follow the Offline Activation steps here.

    • The license key is correctly entered.

Step 4: Troubleshooting Tips

  • Issue: Installer fails to run.

    • Solution:  Make sure to run the file as Administrator. 

  • Issue: Activation fails.

    • Solution: Check your internet connection, ensure the firewall isn’t blocking the activation process. If Firewall is blocking, please request your IT team to whitelist the following IPs and URLs:


  • IP Addresses to Whitelist:

    • 52.223.22.71

    • 35.71.188.31

  • Web API URL to Whitelist:

    • https://api.cryptlex.com:443
