What OBIEE/OAC Permissions/roles/access is needed for BI connector to connect to OBIEE?

For BI Connector to connect to OBIEE (or Oracle Analytics), the following roles/access is needed:

1.  The OBIEE user need to have BI Author role which includes BI Consumer role by default.  

2.  The SOAP access should be set up with the following privileges:

  • Access SOAP - BI Consumer Role, BI System Role
  • Access MetadataService Service - BI Consumer Role, BI System Role
  • Access SecurityService Service - BI Consumer Role, BI System Role
  • Access XmlGenerationService Service - BI Consumer Role, BI System Role
  • Access CatalogServiceService - - BI Consumer Role, BI System Role
  • Access CatalogIndexingServiceService - BI Consumer Role, BI System Role

3. OBIEE Reports permissions:


If you are going to work with OBIEE/OAC reports please ensure the below permissions as well:
  1. For accessing Shared folder, click on it like the below image:
  2. Click Permissions.
  3. A pop up window as shown below appears: 
  4. Give permission to BI Consumer the Modify/Open access.
  5. Enable the checkbox Apply permissions to sub-folders and Apply permissions to items within folder.
  6. Click Ok. 



Note: If you are giving permission to specific Sub-folder alone instead of entire Shared folder follow the same steps as above for respective sub-folders as well.

 
Please request your OBIEE Administrator to verify these privileges.
